Jump(suit)ing into Fall

Jumpsuit: Forever21 old, similar HERE; HERE

Shoes: HERE

Friday night, my hubby and I had the privilege of going on a very rare date night.

Praise Jesus.

Am I right?!?

And when these occasions present themselves (THANK YOU G DADDY AND ZSU ZSU), I tend to go all out.

Because, nobody puts Baby in the corner…

So, this weekend I rocked a pink jumpsuit to give one more nod to the dog days of summer.

As an important note, ladies…the sweetheart neckline is your best friend.

And NO, it is not just reserved for your wedding day.

If you are heavy chested, great.

If you have no chest (like me), great.

The way the fabric sits on your chest, it makes any amount of bosom look beautiful.

Who else is googling “sweetheart neckline” right now?!?!?!

Marshall and I explored our town and spent the evening reminding ourselves how much we love Birmingham.

Do you ever do mini staycations in your own city?

It is honestly one of the best ways to make you appreciate all that is around you!

I finished off my look with some nude colored strappy sandals and my fave bangle baubles.

Needless to say, we are counting down for the next time out…

And that nip in the air just as the sun went down made me jump up and down excited for fall!

Cooler air is coming!!

Happy Jump(suit)ing into Fall, Friends!!

Season Shifting Style

#WardrobeWednesday

Season Shifting Style

Dress: MudPie

Shoes: Forever21 – old, but similar HERE

It’s that time of year again!

Football.  Pumpkins.  Seasons changing.  Back to school.  Leaves everywhere.  You know the drill…

All of it is awesome except for the age old question: WHAT DO YOU WEAR WHEN MOTHER NATURE CAN’T MAKE UP HER MIND?!?

The next few weeks are going to be jam packed with wardrobe confusion.

The mornings and late evenings will likely be cool, whereas the days are scalding hot…that is, if you are from the south, of course…. 😉

And, with hurricane season in full swing, there’s really no way to tell what the weather will be from one day to the next.

SO, today, I have put together a frock that is perfect for these exact dilemmas so that you can turn that fashion-fret-frown upside down, girlfriend!

During the “Summall” weeks (as I lovingly call them : Summer + Fall = Summall), you want to add a sleeve to the mix, but keep the texture of the garment light and airy.

Your thick cotton blends, sweaters and cardigans are not quite appropriate just yet.  So sorry to all of you being kept up at night by the excitement of strolling through the pumpkin patch with your pumpkin spice latte warming those beautifully bronzed lips…

We are almost there…

But, until we get there, you can go to town with 3/4 length sleeves, light and airy cardigans and dresses with boots!

I added a wedge to this look to cover my toes, but still leave room for a breeze for the ‘ole tired feet.

I particularly chose this dress because of the interesting detailing around the neckline.  I love a detail, girl.

The ruffles here scream feminine, but I think this look is also business-chic, if I do say so myself.

This means you could totally dominate the board room OR the brunch room in this look!

I also added a belt to cinch the waist just a bit.

Fit is e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g.  Am I right, ladies?!?

You can select the most beautiful fabric and design in the world.  But, if that jewel doesn’t fit….well, it’s ain’t workin’ for ya, babe.

Thus, my vehement aversion to mu-mus and tent shirts (as I not-so-lovingly refer to them…just ask my Mom (insert awkward face emoji here))…

You can make shift dresses like these much more figure friendly with a simple belt.

And, by the looks of the runways up in New York this week (Fashion Week is currently going on…cue all the FOMO), belts are HERE TO STAY, FRIENDS!

Black and White Gingham with a Pop of Red

#WardrobeWednesday

Black and White Gingham with a Pop of Red

Top: similar HERE

Ankle Pants: HERE

Ankle Strap Red Heels: similar HERE

As summer comes to a close, our wardrobe has to match the changing of the tides…

Nights get cooler and our shoulders need a bit more coverage.

This gingham top is perfect, because it gives you the warmth you need for those brisk fall nights, but still has a fun summery print.

Because we all know gingham is a #SouthernBelleStaple, y’all!

I paired this with simple black capris and red accessories.

Popping black and white with really any color is a fun way to add a punch to your outfit.

The red here enhances the gingham due to its contrasting style.

I kept the jewelry simple by adding a strand of black beads so as not to take away from my pops of red.

The tie in the front of this shirt is another reason I just had to have it.

I mean, you put gingham AND a bow in one look and I’m sold.  No questions asked.

But, you could tie this bow in the back if you wanted to add a cinched look with less of an overtly dainty appeal.

That’s the fun of style…you can make it fit your preferences and put your own personality on display!

I am particularly excited to rock this look at football games this fall!

The sleeve length and comfy capris will make it perfect for traipsing through the quad and sitting in those stadium seats.

Plus, I can add fun team-specific baubles to show that little extra bit of team spirit pride…

Oh, ROLL TIDE, by the way! 😉

Gone With the Wind Getup

blogaboat8

Dress: Forever21 – old; but love HEREHERE, and HERE

Shoes: HERE

Who doesn’t like to feel like a modern day Princess every now and then?!?

This maxi is giving me life, friends!!

When I wear this dress, I feel regal.  There’s something about the flowy train and off the shoulder mixed with my all-time fave: sweetheart neckline that makes this frock a 10 for me!

blogaboat2

I recently wore this dress on a little sunset boat ride and I have to tell you: I felt very “gone with the wind fabulous… ;)” HA!

The colors are also very vibrant in the fabric, which makes this a stand-out piece for sure.

And just look how it floats in the wind:

blogaboat7

This dress is definitely for a night out on the town and not-so-much for a weekend shopping trip to Target, but hey girl YOU DO YOU!  If you wanna rock this on your next grocery shopping outing, I am gonna stand by you 100% 😉

blogaboat4

blogaboat6

I paired my look with some on-trend pink tassel earrings that I felt really upped the drama factor!

Plus, these sunnies were a must to complete the look.

blogaboat9

Earrings: Francesca’s – old; similar HERE

Sunnies: HERE

For a finishing touch, I added two statement bangle bracelets.

The one with pearl embellishments on each end, I found on Zulily years ago!  Total knockoff and you’d never know!

The second one with the intricate gold detailing is Kendra Scott (which I got for an incredible deal at a recent Color Bar party one of my dear friends invited me to!)

Bracelet: Kendra Scott Andy Bracelet HERE

So, ladies.  Why not add a little number like this to your wardrobe for those nights when making a statement is just the vibe you need… 😉

Who can appreciate this Angelina Jolie-wannabe leg pop?  Anyone?!? HA! 😉

Coral Chic

#WardrobeWednesday

Coral Chic

Dress: Red Dress Boutique, All kinds of fun options HERE

Clutch: Forever21; another of my faves HERE

Only a few more weeks of summer!  WHAT?!?

Where has the time gone?

I’m actually looking forward to Fall, if I’m being honest.

Just think of all those scarves, booties, plaid tops…ooohhhh I can’t wait!!

But, today I am celebrating Summer in this super flirty / fun off the shoulder dress from Red Dress Boutique!

The ruffles on this dress make my southern belle heart leap with joy!

Again, I’m all about the details, so this look was a must as soon as I laid eyes on it.

I’m rocking my Kendra Scott earrings once again…they are such a staple!

I have to tell you…this dress is actually comfy!  The material is soft and the structure is flowy…so you don’t feel stiff at all!

The color is great as well because coral is such a summer staple color.  Accessories to complement this color are everywhere you look.

Try TJMaxx for some great, affordable accessories.  I was browsing there the other day and found several clutches, and jewelry pieces all under $15!

This snake skin shoe is so old.  I tried to find something similar, but my apologies…I could not!

As a fan of statement shoes, I gotta tell you ladies: snag them when you find them!

If you love them, chances are most ladies will, too.  So, never leave a statement shoe unattended!! 😉

And because all of you know my obsession with Mini Me looks, I somehow found a way to coordinate this one, too!

Side note: who appreciates my youngest’s lipstick?  Start ’em early I guess… ha! Jokes… 😉

Palm Print Passion

Palm Print Top: HERE; Shorts: HERE

Real Life Palm Trees + Palm Print Sweetheart Neckline Top = Perfection.

Ladies, I’ve got a passion for some palm print.  I love palm print wine glasses.  Palm print cutting boards.  Palm print coverups.

So you can imagine, when I saw this beauty, I grabbed it up, stat.

Do I need to mention that it is $ 15 !!!

I am really trying to come in strong for us with these insane deals these days!

blogapalm3

This top is so crisp and vibrant in person!  I hope that is translating in the photos…

Here is a closer look at the fabric:

blogapalm5

The really cool thing about this top is that it can be dressed up OR down.

I paired it with some white shorts for a casual, poolside look.

BUT, you could easily pair this with some white dress pants and strappy heels for a night out on the town!

blogapalm2

The sweetheart neckline also adds that extra layer of chic that I am always looking for in my fashion picks.

It’s those subtle touches of something extra that can turn even the simplest look into a showstopper!

White Lace Wonder

#WardobeWednesday

White Lace Wonder

Romper: Forever21 old, but very similar HERE

Shoes: HERE

Earrings: Kendra Scott

There’s only a few more weeks left in summer…

And you know what that means…WEAR. ALL. THE. WHITE. ‘YA. GOT.

One of my fave parts of summer is that it is WHITE CLOTHES season.

White jeans.

White shorts.

White ROMPERS.

You see white everywhere and it’s so crisp and clean! LOVE IT!

White. Lace.

That’s all I need to say, right?

I am a BIG fan of anything lace.  It screams sophistication to me.  What do y’all think?

It’s classy.  It’s chic.  It’s actually even trendy these days…

My favorite part about lace is the intricate detailing…

I love that this romper brings out the dainty quality of the lace, but adds a strong vibe with the shorts and tie belt.

This little number could be perfect for a date night, party or even a rehearsal dinner!

The scalloping around the neckline makes this romper stand out even more.

That extra punch of “wow” is why I kept the shoes very minimal with this look.  I never want to overwhelm my look with too many details.

The simple nude colored ankle strap sandals fit that bill to a tee!

Just look at the intricacy of the scalloping…

I had fun coordinating (who would’ve guessed 😉 ) with my girls for dinner that night, too…

Turns out, Target had some perfect little shift dresses to match!

I am a sucker for any Mini Me Moment!

I always tell people that enjoy trying new things with their fashion to definitely try the romper.  It is a fun way to express your creativity, but also give a nod to the trends these days.

If you feel more comfortable with your legs covered, try a jumpsuit!  They are equally as flattering and not as exposed.

Ok, these pics are making me ache for the beach so, I am gonna head back to reality.  Hope you’re having a great week!

Until next time, shoreline – I sure do miss you!!

Beach Vibes

Beach Vibes

Tassel Tunic: HERE

I’ve raved about this look before, but today I had to lay out the deets for y’all.

This coverup tunic is super affordable from Forver21 and it even comes with a matching clutch!!

I love that it is so colorful, because it will coordinate with so much more that way!

Hat: HERE; Sunnies: HERE

How amazing is that?

Now, you can head down to the beach in style and not have to worry about giving up your style factor in the process…

Plus, I added this hat and matching sunnies to coordinate with these fun finds.

One thing I love about this coverup is that it feels covered up, while still fun and flirty.

The long sleeves are great for those chilly sea breezes and they help with preventing those unwanted sunburns, too 😉

Now, when I need to leave the pool and head to grab a little ‘rita or a bucket of guac, I will feel much more comfortable, rather than lettin’ it all hang out…

You feel me, ladies?!?

One Shoulder Ruffle Dreams

One Shoulder Ruffle Dreams

blogaapink4

Shirt: HERE; Shorts: HERE;

Sandals, Old NY&Company, but similar HERE

My ruffle fascination continues, friends…

This top is poppin’ up everywhere this summer, and after slipping it on for the first time, I could definitely see why!

Not only is it flirty and fun, but it is very comfortable.

Some off the shoulder and one shoulder tops are super annoying because they continue to slip down requiring you to tug at them all.day.long.

THIS top stays put without the need to continually adjust.  SCORE!

blogaapink2

Earrings: Kendra Scott

I paired this look with my fave Kendra Scott earrings, because once you add a staple like these, they tend to frequent the accessory rotation.

I love that the subtle glisten created by the mother of pearl paired with the flirty ruffles give off an extra dainty vibe.

blogaapink8

I chose simple white shorts for this look.  But, almost any bottom would pair nicely with this top.

Skirts.  Jeans.  White pants.  You name it!

The versatility of this top is just another one of the several reasons to love this top!

blogaapink7

Gold is one of my all-time fave colors.  I love that it is a neutral, but it is such a POP!

These gold sandals in particular are so comfortable I wear them almost every day in the summer.

In fact, I wish I had bought two pair!

Tip: It’s nice to have a few statement shoes in your closet, but definitely stock up on staple shoes as well.  These gold shoes qualify as the perfect staple summer sandal.

blogaapink

I’ve shown y’all this embroidered / tassel clutch many times before because I can NOT get enough of it.

I wish I could carry it in the fall / winter because I would probably never need another clutch again…ha!

The tassels are fun and the detail in the embroidery is stunning, to say the least!

Here’s a closer look at my fave summer clutch:

blogaapink5blogaapink6blogaapink3

I chose to pull my hair back once we were at dinner because it was very breezy that night…cue the flyaway hair craziness!!!

My go-to hairstyle is a side pony.  You may think that a side pony sounds dated (think the 90s…), but if you execute it correctly, it is so 2017!

I always keep mine very low and try not to go too poofy with the curls…

Maxi Dress Magic

#WardrobeWednesday

Maxi Dress Magic

Dress: HERE; Earrings: HERE

Blue and white.  Classic summer staple colors.

Throw in some fun accessories, and you’ve got yourself a go-to frock.

Add extreme comfort, and, well, you’ve got an everyday look for this girl…

The second I tried this halter maxi dress on, I knew I was sold.  The material is so soft and the fit is amazing.

With a fitted bodice that instantly floats away from those tricky problem areas, there’s just another reason to add this look to your closet.

There is a modest slit right up the middle of the dress which gives you just enough of that visual oompf that we ladies love to rock.

Plus, just look at the detailing of the design, specifically the way the zigzags are positioned, it’s almost a slimming illusion…SCORE!

Even though this dress is a halter neck style, the designers still managed to keep it interesting with a criss-cross feature.

I love how the material draws your attention up to your face…thereby giving you the perfect opportunity to showcase some showstopper earrings!

And, if you’re going to be showing off your earrings, you might as well add a subtle touch of bling to your wrist, too…

Bracelets: Forever21 Old, similar HERE

Summer style is all about cooling comfort, especially if you live in the south.

This dress will keep you breezy, but give you that “just-stepped-off-the-runway” vibe.

Plus, for those of you that like a twirl skirt, this dress will give you many reasons to bust out a twirl.

Or ten… 😉
